ASU Develops Cooperation with University of Genoa
Astrakhan State University has been visited by a delegation of professors from University of Genoa (Italy)
Cooperation between our universities has already been developing for several years. In particular, we were developing the joint project “Chain of Centers for Training Innovative Project Management”. Now that this project has been completed, the two parties are seeking ways for further mutually profitable relations. Two areas of possible cooperation - logistics and water chemical purification - are regarded as the most promising ones.

Professor Angelo Musaio, who heads the Department of International Cooperation at University of Genoa, has already been to Astrakhan a few times; while his colleagues, Professor Roberto Revetria and Professor Renzo Di Felice, have come to our city for the first time. The three guests have taken part in a number of meetings with ASU’s faculty staff to discuss the common issues and to give presentations.

Professor Revetria, who specializes in Logistics, has told his Russian colleagues about the development of logistic specializations at his University - about logistic Master’s courses and about researches and contacts in the field of logistics with various business companies. He suggested including his course in Logistics into ASU’s educational programs.

Dr. Solopov, Director of ASU’s Institute of Economics & Law, pointed out that the suggested course is of great importance for Astrakhan Region, which borders on a number of countries, and it is really necessary to develop the local logistic infrastructure, to learn the experience gained by our partners specializing in this field.

Professor Revetria is going to visit a number of Astrakhan Region’s large enterprises - a construction bureau, a ship-building plant, the Central Cargo Port, etc. His interest towards Astrakhan’s water transport is quite explainable: both Genoa and Astrakhan are large seaports, so the two parties could find lots of ways of cooperation in this field.

As for Professor Di Felice, who specializes in Chemical Engineering, he told his Russian counterparts about possible ways of joint executing the Master’s program ‘Innovative Membrane Technologies to Purify Drinking & Sewage Water”. According to Professor Epinetov, who heads ASU’s Chair of Pharmacology, one of the main tasks to be solved by Russia is to maintain industrial production of filters, following the federal program “Pure Water”; so our University is ready for such cooperation with the Italian party. In his turn, Professor Di Felice is going to visit Astrakhan’s business companies and authorities that are engaged in water purification.

The general aim of cooperation between University of Genoa and ASU is to undertake joint activities in such areas as joint researches, academic and students’ exchange programs, and planning to launch ‘double-diploma” programs in the field of logistics. To develop the initiated contacts, a delegation from ASU will go to Genoa soon.
