It is already the third time that foreigners have been taught Russian at our University. 11 people from a number of USA’s states have arrived in Astrakhan - students, postgraduates, and even a Professor of Economics. Their studies are financed with individual grants, but both SUNY and ASU also take part in the financing.
The new name of the courses - Caspian School of Russian Language at ASU - can be regarded as some kind of a quality mark. The results that the students will get shall be converted into the US system of marks (A, B, C, etc.); they shall be acknowledged as academic credits at American universities.
Two advanced-level language programs have been developed by ASU’s faculty for their foreign students; they will help them not only improve their Russian, but also learn a lot in Culture Studies, in Political Science, in Economics, and in Mass Media. The duration of the programs is six weeks, and they shall be based on American educational technologies, on the specific features of the American mentality, and on each student’s individual features.
