The mission of our Department is to develop international contacts of Astrakhan State University with its potential and current foreign partners. Our key task is to supervise and to take care of foreign students who come to study at Astrakhan State University. 

Thanks to its unique geographical location and nature, and to its rich historical heritage, our Astrakhan Region has a high potential to develop educational tourism. Every year, dozens foreign students come to cover educational programs at our University, which include a wide range of specialties - from Welding Engineering or Cartography to Financers & Credit or Social Work. We also offer short-term summer programs for foreign students, which include academic, linguistic, cultural, and practical components.

Our Department includes the Center of TEMPUS programs (which are executed jointly with our partners from France, Belgium, Finland, Great Britain, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Latvia, and Ukraine) and CASA Caspian Nova (the Russian-French Center of Joint Educational Programs & Researches). In 2007, Astrakhan State University signed agreements on joint “double-diploma” Master’s programs with University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (France) and with Clark University (USA, Massachusetts). Similar agreements in tourism, in computer game development, and in management are being discussed with Finnish, Scotch, and Belgian universities.

 

Our Department closely cooperates with the Regional Center of Distance Learning, the Regional Center of International Education, and the Regional Center of Translation & Interpretation. So our faculty staff and our students regularly participate in various exchange programs - Fulbright, DAAD, TEMPUS, IREX, and in other international programs, which certainly favors the development of broad-scale international links.
