Principal Directions of R& D:
Carbon nanotubes;
Metal-carbon nanocomposites;
Design of nanoceramic materials and unique devices on their basis;
Nanostructured formations in biological liquids;
Production of technological and research equipment.
Scholars of our Center have completed researches in using carbon nanotubes in welding so as to refine the quality of welded joints in ship-building. These researches are quite important for our Region. Our scholars were the first to determine how nanotubes influence the characteristics of welded joints.
Our Regional Center of Nanotechnologies & Nanoindustry is also the cluster-forming basis for the innovative growth of our regional economy. The NILS-NM, a research-and-scientific production enterprise, has been established on the basis of our Center. The establishment of this enterprise was encouraged by the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE). The technical approaches that the NILS-NM offers make it possible to organize a profitable production of carbon nanomaterials (nanotubes). Our nanotubes are manufactured with such quality that they meet the needs of each type of their consumers.
Our Center has been awarded with two golden and a silver medal at the Moscow International Salons of Innovations and Investments in 2007-2008, as well as with the Diploma granted by the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks (Rospatent).
The Center is headed by D.Sc. in Physics & Mathematics, Full Professor Vladimir Kornilyevich Karpasyuk.
