“Synthetic Nitrogen-Containing Heterocycles
and Intermediate Products for their Syntheses”
(with workshop “Modern Methods of Chemical Analyses”)
Principle directions of our activities:
-
Syntheses of new nitrogen-containing heterocycles, determination of their structures using modern physical and chemical research methods (IR, UV, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, X-ray structure analysis);
-
Quantum chemical calculations for the geometry of molecules, studying their reactivity;
-
Chemical modification of well-known medicines by introducing new pharmacophore groups so as to improve pharmacological qualities of such medicines;
-
Computer prognoses of the specter of biological activity of new chemical compounds. These prognoses are followed by the pharmaceutical screening of leading compounds in specialized medico-biological laboratories;
-
Tackling the problems of searching and applying new chemical compounds on whose basis efficient medical products against tuberculosis and cardiovascular diseases could be made;
-
Examining new compounds as analytical chemical agents that could be used to tackle certain practical problems in Analytical Chemistry.
The Laboratory is headed by D.Sc. in Chemistry, Full Professor Anatoly Valeryevich VELIKORODOV.
